Robert Vowler is a business advisor and experienced board member in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Vowler previously served as CEO of Hershey Trust Company for twelve years, during which time he oversaw investments totaling $10 billion. He also led the oversight of The Hershey Company, Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, and the M.S. Hershey Foundation. He served as the primary trustee of the controlling interest in the titular Fortune 500 company and served as a board member of several Hershey entities as well. Prior to being named CEO, he held a number of increasingly executive roles at Hershey.
As head of the Trust, Robert Vowler was at once tasked with overseeing existing operations and driving new initiatives to carry out Milton S. Hershey’s legacy. His career at Hershey is largely defined by the work that he did for the Hershey community. He was recognized with the President’s LIfetime Community Award of Excellence by the African-American Chamber in 2002 and an Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award from Lycoming College in 2010.
Outside of his professional career, Robert Vowler indulges in a variety of interests and hobbies. More specifically, Robert enjoys travel, sports, astronomy and spending time with his family. For travel, Robert has traveled around the country and abroad and has genuinely enjoyed every moment of it. From the Great Lakes to the coast of Maine, Robert Vowler has traveled a great deal with his family.
Another large part of Robert’s life is his family. Several of his trips revolve around his family and spending quality time with them. He particularly enjoys spending time with his grandchildren when on trips.
Robert’s admiration for astronomy knows no bounds. The mystery and possibility of space has always enraptured Robert, ever since childhood. He enjoys learning about the planets, the stars, black holes, super novas and our place in the vast, expansive universe. During his academic years, Robert played a bit of football, so he greatly appreciates the sport and continues to watch it regularly.
